I feel so lucky that I get to meet the loveliest people on my shoots. This feature of the Knott’s Family, that appeared in the February issue of This Old House magazine, was one of those special stories. Emily and Michael and their sweet kids were such a pleasure to work with and their renovated house was a joy to photograph. Emily is an interior designer and entrepreneur whose cheerful style will brighten your day.
We actually missed the article when it came out and I wanted to share why we are only getting to blogging about this story so many months later : I had a very bad riding accident on February 9th which resulted in a broken shoulder and extensive surgery. To be honest, this injury knocked me flat on my back for about eight weeks. My world came to a full stop.
It has been a very interesting season for me, a time of reflection on the fragility of life and even rethinking my career and its direction. I wasn’t able to work and basically spent the bulk of my time at physical therapy or sleeping in a recliner. In the early days of my recovery, just having a shower and getting dressed would wear me out for the day.
Fast forward another couple of months and I am happy to report that my shoulder is healing well and I am back to shooting and my regular life. It is a busy beehive here at the office and we are working on so many things at SVB Photo and One Sparrow Studio too. Our fabulous summer intern,Taryn, is also helping us with social media and creating lots of content for our blogs.
It’s so nice to be back . . . I hope you follow along on Instagram (@staceyvanberkelphoto + @onesparrowstudio) to see our upcoming blog posts and announcements. And we want to hear from you too!
