I recently challenged myself to bring my professional camera to Flintrock Farms (where I board my horse Brontë) instead of the easy iPhone option I usually choose, and these photos are the result. In typical North Carolina fashion, we had a complete gamut of seasons : summer heat, fog and snow all during a few days of “winter”.
There is something so powerful and ethereal about the movement of horses. I don’t think I will ever take that for granted and I truly feel a thrill every time I see Brontë. To capture these images, I prowled around the farm, early in the morning and late in the afternoons, seeing the sun rise and set on the farm. I followed the hard working farm hands as they went through the rhythms of their day and walked through the fields and barns lIstening, watching and waiting for those special moments.
I feel like this is only beginning of this creative project but wanted to share these images with you. I hope you feel as inspired by the beauty of the horse as I do!
